Roger Moore

Sir Roger Moore, KBE was born in London, England on 14 October 1927, he is best known for playing British secret agent James Bond in seven films between 1973 and 1985, and Simon Templar in The Saint from 1962 to 1969.

After appearing in a few Hollywood films in the 1950's worldwide fame arrived after Lew Grade cast Moore as Simon Templar in a TV adaptation of The Saint, based on the novels by Leslie Charteris. The series was made in the UK with an eye to the American market, and its success there (and in other countries) made Moore a household name. The series also established his suave, quipping style which he would carry forward to James Bond.

It was only after Sean Connery had stepped down as 007 for good that Moore was approached for the role, and he accepted producer Albert Broccoli's offer in August 1972. Moore is the longest-serving Bond actor, having spent 12 years in the role, from his debut in Live and Let Die (1973) to his final Bond film - A View to a Kill (1985), seven official Bond films in a row.

In 2003 Moore was made Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire, the citation was for Moore's charity work, which has dominated his public life for more than a decade. Moore said that the citation "meant far more to me than if I had got it for acting... I was proud because I received it on behalf of UNICEF as a whole and for all it has achieved over the years". 1. What no Spice Girls poster?....lol. Moore has always been my favorite Bond...I know that I am in the minority with that opinion....but I will always stick with it. It does not look like his non Bond movies have been to popular. Bullseye with Caine is a mess of a movie. Nice addition to your page.

  2. Thanks Bruce, Moore was a very popular Bond in his time, The Spy Who Loved Me is my favourite of his 7 Bond films. I came close to adding the Spice World poster but I just couldn't hit 'submit'. :)
